Are Bananas A Trigger For Migraine Headaches

If you are suffering from frequent migraines, you are probably aware that certain foods can trigger your migraines. If you have several headaches or more a month, it is a good idea to keep a migraine journal for a few months. You will record what you eat and do each day as well as noting any migraine headaches and when you experience them. After a few weeks, you should be able to recognize a pattern.

One of the foods that can trigger a migraine headache is bananas. Pay close attention to the foods you eat the day of as well as the day prior to your migraine headache. If you think bananas may be triggering your migraine, cut them completely out of your diet for a few weeks. Do your migraines stop? If so, then bananas are a trigger for migraines for you.

There is good news for all you banana lovers though. You may be surprised to find out that it isn’t the actual banana that is the trigger for migraine headaches, but the banana peel. After you have determined that bananas are the culprit (or at least one of them) for your migraines, reintroduce bananas back into your diet being very careful that you completely remove the peel from the banana, including the white stringy things that tend to stick to the actual banana fruit.

By removing every least piece of banana peel you will be able to enjoy bananas even if they are a trigger for your migraine headaches.
